My Child is Officially 18 Years Old, What Now?

Congratulations Parents of Graduates!

Whether your child is heading to college, beginning a new job, entering the trades, or exploring another path, your child turning 18 is a time for excitement, transition, and pride, but it can also be a little bit scary. At Ison Law, we are here to celebrate with you, and quell your fears.

As a parent of a 17 year old, a parent gets automatic access to medical information and decision making authority, financial accounts or transactions, and education records. At 18, POOF! It all goes away.

To ensure you can support your adult child if something goes wrong, we recommend your child put together three essential documents:

1. General (Financial) Power of Attorney
2. Healthcare Power of Attorney
3. Living Will

These simple, yet powerful documents allow parents, or another trusted individual, to step in and help if the unexpected occurs.

At Ison law we have spent over 35 years helping central Ohio families plan for the future with clarity and compassion. When you work with Ison Law you will receive:

1. Direct Access to an experienced attorney
2. Clear Step By Step guidance through legal processes
3. A customized plan that reflects your or your child’s unique needs

Our goal is to remove confusion and replace it with confidence, whether you are planning your estate, navigating business contracts, or preparing for your child’s independence, we want to help you find solutions.
